.....Son programme a été crescendo dans la qualité pour culminer à un Schubert poignant de vérité. Ses lignes mélodiques étaient limpides, en parfaite concertation avec l’accompagnement au piano. De quoi justifier après tout le titre de la pièce : Sonate pour violoncelle ET piano. Nous en avons fait notre coup de cœur pour cette journée. Link

His program was great in quality, to culminate in a Schubert of truth. Its melodic lines were crystal clear, in perfect harmony with the piano accompaniment. What justifies after all the title of the piece, Sonata on cello and piano. We made it our favorite for this day.

Zu Liszts abschließender "Malédiction" - Verwünschung - kann es nur einen Kommentar geben: teuflisch brillant. Die zarte Han-Wen Yu zaubert auf den Tasten ein Feuerwerk der Akkordpassagen, der Läufe, der gewagten Sprünge, baut mehrstimmige Strukturen auf und bleibt dennoch erstaunlich kultiviert und transparent. Nie gleitet das Exaltierte ins Grobe und Unschöne ab.
To Liszt's concluding “Malédiction” — The Curse — there can only be one comment added: devilishly brilliant. The delicate Han-Wen Yu magically transformed the chordal passages, the runs, and daring leaps on the keys to a firework. She builds up polyphonic structures and yet remains amazingly cultivated and transparent. Never drifted the exaggeration into a rough or unattractive piece.

Die Pianistin – eine Entdeckung
Der Abend hat aber nur funktioniert, weil die Pianistin auf zurückhaltende, aber ungemein präsente Weise alles zusammengehalten hat. Han-Wen Jennifer Yu ist eine Entdeckung, eine hochbegabte Liedbegleiterin – eine sichere Stütze, sei es bei einfachen Begleitfiguren, aber auch bei den Kunstliedern. Brahms' Von ewiger Liebe hat sie mit wunderbar dunklem Fundament gestützt, aber auch die beiden Liszt-Lieder mit samtpfotiger Wärme. Jedem Liedersänger, der noch auf der Suche nach einem kompetenten Begleiter ist, kann man sie nur wärmstens ans Herz legen.
The pianist — a discovery
The evening only worked, however, because the pianist held everything together in a restrained but exceptionally present manner. Han-Wen Jennifer Yu is a discovery, a highly gifted song accompanist — a sure pillar of support, be it as a simple accompaniment but also in art songs. She supported Brahms' “Von ewiger Liebe” with a wonderfully dark foundation, but also the two Liszt pieces with velvety soft warmth. To every singer, who is still looking for a competent accompanist, she can only be heartily recommended.
